Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program

At Share Club, we’ve always believed that community care can change lives.

What started as a simple and probably risky idea has grown into something so much more than I could have ever imagined - a space where neighbors connect, resources are shared, and generosity ripples outward in ways we could never have imagined. In just a year and a half, we’ve watched people show up for one another again and again: donating items, shopping secondhand to support sustainability, sharing opportunities, offering encouragement, and quietly helping others through difficult seasons.

That spirit is what inspired our initiative: Share Club’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program.

The idea is simple - sometimes people need a little extra support, and sometimes other people are in a position to give it. We wanted to create an easy, dignified way to connect those two groups within our own community.

Through this Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program, anyone experiencing financial hardship can apply for a free $50 shopping trip at Share Club - no strings attached. It’s not a contest, giveaway, or raffle. It’s simply neighbors helping neighbors.

Once someone applies, we’ll share a brief version of their story on Instagram using only their first name. Community members who feel moved to help can sponsor a shopping trip through a financial donation, and Share Club will match every donation with store credit to help as many families and individuals as possible.

When someone is sponsored, they’ll be invited to come shop the whole store for whatever they need - clothing, shoes, books, toys, or whatever else we may be able to provide.

For some, $50 may not sound life-changing. But we know firsthand that small acts of kindness can have an enormous impact. Sometimes it means a parent can buy clothes for a growing child without stress. Sometimes it means someone can now afford a new outfit for a special occasion. Sometimes it means someone can replace essentials after a hard month. Sometimes it simply means feeling seen, supported, and cared for by their community.

We also love that this program reflects the heart of what Share Club has always been about: sharing resources sustainably and making sure good things continue circulating through our neighborhoods instead of ending up in landfills.

In a world that can often feel disconnected, we want to keep building a community rooted in generosity, dignity, and mutual support.

If you or someone you know could use a little extra help right now, we encourage you to apply here. And if you’re in a position to give, we hope you’ll consider sponsoring a neighbor this season (via Venmo).

Together, we can create a community where people care for one another in tangible, meaningful ways.

Because at the end of the day, we’re all neighbors. 💛
